Split Pea Soup With Ham and Cheese
Ingredients:
- Chicken Broth, 3 Quarts
- Split Peas 1 Cup, 8 oz
- Potatoes 5 units medium size
- Carrots, 1 medium
- American Cheese 4 oz
- Olive Oil, to garnish
- Smoked Ham 5 oz
Preparation:
Clean, Rinse Split peas, soak in water for an hour.
Peal, clean, dice potatoes. Clean, and grate the carrot.
Put all ingredients into pot or sauce pan, fill up with broth, put in diced ham cook for about 20-25 minutes. When finished cooking, take half of the soup and whip it with a mixer so its more pure than the rest of the soup. combine them together. stir well.
Grate the cheese (with medium grater) and put cheese in each plate individually, also garnish with a table spoon of olive oil. Serve with crackers or croutons.

Split Pea Soup With Bacon
Ingredients:
8 oz. Split Peas
1 yellow Onion Medium size
2 Carrots
1 Celery
8 oz of bacon
2 cubes of Chicken broth
2 bay leafes, salt and pepper to taste
2 cups of water
Directions:
Prepare split peas, by removing objects and rinse throughly
put split peas in pot with water and chicken broth cubes
bring to a boil let simmer for a while 45-60 minutes add bay leaves, salt pepper toward the middle
In about 30 minutes take skillet heat it up
cut up bacon in little cubes or pieces, put it in skillet
at the same time put in diced onion and let both roast for few minutes until onion turns gold color, you can add some butter or vegetable oil if fat from bacon isn’t enough
when onion turns gold add diced celery to the skillet and let it roast for a few moments also.
Cut up carrots in small cubes or dices. leave them out they will go directly into split pea soup.
45 minutes into cooking, put in contents of skillet (bacon, onion and celery) into soup with carrots. and let it simmer for another 15 minutes.
by that time split peas will be well cooked and start to fall apart and will be ready to serve!
